Build a Borehole gives children a chance!

Boreholes bring clean water from deep under the ground to hand-pumps encased in concrete.  This prevents surface contamination seeping in which keep the water safe to drink.

EACH BOREHOLE SAVE MANY LIVES

25% of schools in Sierra Leone do not have any safe water. 

Parched students leave class to go to a stream to drink and miss out on their education.

The solution to this problem is to build boreholes in schools and communities.

The search for water blights the lives of many of Sierra Leone’s children as fetching water consumes much of their day. Often pupils don’t go to school or arrive late after queuing for water at contaminated wells or streams a long way from home. Some are still fetching water late into the night.

Open wells and streams also endanger the lives of children weakened by malaria or poor nutrition.  They can become ill, and some die needlessly, from waterborne diseases.

A BUILD A BOREHOLE SCHOOL WATER PUMP

Build a Borehole has commissioned 9 life-saving boreholes in schools and communities saving many lives.  Students at this school now have water in the classroom. We must act quickly to improve more children’s lives.  Please help build more boreholes.

Children are missing out on valuable education while they search for water. They often collect water late into the night.
